Head of State leads 150km motorcycle convoy

KOTA BELUD: The 69th birthday of Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin was celebrated with him leading a 150km motorcycle convoy.

With a route of approximately 150km, the annual convoy organised by the Sabah Police Contingent was accompanied by 60 high-powered motorcycles that began at Istana Seri Kinabalu to Dewan Tun Said, here, and back.

At the event, Juhar presented donations to 50 recipients of Yayasan Nur Jauhar (YNJ) consisting orphans and the unprivileged from and around the district.

Also present was Pintasan assemblyman, Fairuz Renddan, Sabah Police Commissioner, Datuk Idris Abdullah, Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner, Datuk Jauteh Dikun, YNJ Chairman, Brigadier General Al Hambra Tun Juhar, Deputy Director of Sabah Information Department, Supian Musa and District Officer, Peter Jonu Moinjil

Meanwhile, in Kuching, Juhar’s wife, Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni led 100 cyclists in the Kayuhan Kenyalang di Bawah Bayu 2022 cycling event, Saturday.

The 15km cycling event started at 7am along the Heritage Trail and was also attended by the Sabah Chief Minister’s wife, who is also Chairwomen of Pertubuhan Muafakat Titipan Amal Isteri Wakil Rakyat and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (Mutiara GRS), Datuk Seri Julia Salag.

Also present were Sabah Legislative Assembly Speaker’s wife, Datin Noraini Salleh, wife of Deputy Chief Minister II, Datin Seri Cecelia Edwin, wife of the Deputy Chief Minister III, Datin Lindah Anuar Ewit, Mutiara GRS Treasurer, Datin Wahida Mardiana Norsalim, wife of State Secretary, Datuk Dr Nuinda Alias ​​and Sabah Deputy State Secretary (Administration), Diyanah Abdullah.

Also participating were the Deputy Private Secretary to the Sabah Governor, Ag Damit Pg Apong, Secretary for Communications, Datuk Mohd Rashid Mohd Tahir and the Commander of the 507 Territorial Army Regiment, Brigadier General Al Hambra Juhar.

Present to give strong support to the programme were the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, the Deputy State Government Secretary, Performance Transformation and Service Delivery, Datu Dr Sabariah Putit, Sarawak Members of the Wives’ Charitable Organisation (Sabati), President of the Sarawak Cycling Association, Datuk Benjamin Hasbie and members of the Sarawak Cycling Association.

The leisurel cycling route aims to promote the beauty of the Heritage Trail village which involves Pangkalan Sapi, Astana, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Kg Jalan Astana, Kg Lintang, Kg Tanjung, Sinjan, Tupong, Gantong Bridge, Kpg Patingan, Kpg Nombor, Jalan Muda Hashim, Satok , Haji Taha, Brooke Dockyard, Waterfront, India Street, Padang Sentral and Kafe Warisan.

Heritage Trail showcases several interesting buildings such as temples, Chinese museums, Godown Amphitheater, Sarawak Steamship Gallery, Square Tower, Old Court House, Darul Hana Bridge and Terapong Mosque, befitting of the nickname “Kuching City of Unity”.
