Probe into hexane release claim

Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Industrial Development will conduct a research and investigation in response to allegations that a company recycling spent bleached earth inside the Lahad Datu Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) facility released hexane into the atmosphere.The Sabah Environment Action Group (SEAG) raised the issue in May based on the company’s own admission in an online forum.

In a statement released here, SEAG Chairman Mohammad Iskandar said: “The Ministry has assured SEAG that we will be a part of the study to ensure fair and proper practices are maintained.”
