Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Berhad (Kopeks) handed over commemorative 999.9 pure gold bars it produced to its members and buyers during a brief ceremony held at its office in Sadong Jaya, here, Tuesday.

A total of 40 members and customers were present during the event.

Kopeks Chairman Jaibit Jaudin, in his welcoming speech, said Kopeks pure gold was produced to mark the cooperative’s 60th anniversary in 2023. Kopeks was established on Aug 11, 1963.

He said 340 pieces of the gold bars have been sold so far and encouraged members to purchase the bars as sentimental value.

The ceremony was also attended by Kopeks Board Member (ALK) Haji Sulaiman Awang and Chief Executive Officer Buvil Angkui, as well as several members who received the gold bar.
