Newborn boy found abandoned in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: A newborn boy was found abandoned at a food stall in Mile 5, Kampung Jaya Baru, Jalan Tengah Nipah, here, Friday.

District Police Chief ACP Rohan Shah Ahmad said the food stall owner made the discovery about 7am when he opened the stall for business.

He said a team from the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters went to the scene and the baby, weighing 2.9kg and without wearing clothes, was brought to hospital in an ambulance.

The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code.
