70,000 visitors at Keluarga Malaysia event in Kedah

ALOR SETAR: The Kedah edition of the Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations (AKM) Tour attracted more than 70,000 visitors on its opening day, said Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) secretary-general Datuk Ramlan Harun.

He said of the total, over 50,000 people had visited the programme site at Stadium Darul Aman as of last night, while about 15,000 people participated in the ‘Kenuri’ Rakyat Keluarga Malaysia@Padang Terap, which is also part of the AKM Tour.

“Since it’s weekend here, we hope to get 30,000 to 40,000 visitors today (Saturday).

“The main focus will definitely be the booths of 27 government agencies, and we also have the participation of 140 entrepreneurs from various business sectors.

KPLB is the lead ministry for the three-day Kedah AKM Tour.

Ramlan said visitors also have the opportunity to purchase one whole chicken and five kg of rice for RM10 during ‘Happy Hour’ at 11 am and 4.30 pm during the three days of the programme.

Tonight, there will be the Gegaq@JAKM Concert featuring local singers such as Rahim Maarof, Haqiem Rusli and Khai Bahar.

In addition, visitors will also get to see cultural performances and handicrafts of Orang Asli, which is one of the uniqueness of the Kedah AKM Tour.

This is the ninth edition of the AKM Tour programme after Johor, Perlis, Sabah, Terengganu, Perak, Kelantan, Sarawak and Selangor.
