Kunak workers’ quarters razed

KUNAK: A four-door block inhabited by estate workers at the Winsome Harvest Palm Oil Mill, off Jalan Kunak-Semporna, here, was destroyed by fire, early Wednesday.

 Confirming the incident, JBPM Kunak Fire and Rescue Department Head, Mohammad Omarbatha said his department received an emergency call at 1.47am via the MERS 999 line.

 “A team of members together with an EMRS (Emergency Medical Rescue Services) machine and vehicle led by PBK II Rosman Gari rushed to the scene of the incident which is 23 kilometers from the Fire Station here”, he said.

 The operation was also assisted with an FRT machine from JBPM Semporna.
