River pollution caused by unplanned land clearing
Jeffrey completes the installation of bamboo channels or ‘solunsug’ for the purpose of water supply.
TAMBUNAN: River pollution is largely caused by humans from unplanned land clearing activities that do not follow the guidelines set by the government, said Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan here.

He said, river pollution also happened from people who like to throw garbage all over the place which eventually pollutes the environment and then flows into the river.

“Therefore the time has come for the people as a concerned society to change this mentality because the river is a common property,” he said while officiating the World River Day at Kampung Kuala Monsok mini hall here on Thursday.
