Kota Kinabalu: Some 600 people living at the Seri Indah Flats in Sepanggar here have been without clean water supply since Sept 19, with many having to collect rainwater.
A security guard for a Chinese Primary in Inanam, Udin Rahman said he takes his bath at the workplace.
The 44-year-old father of an 11-year-old daughter has been renting a unit for RM300 per month since 2006.
“We received a notice from the Water Department that said rations will be given out in phases.
“Until then we collect rainwater. Only once have we received rations, and that was from a private company earlier on,” he said.
Another disgruntled resident said cleaning up is hard to do with many having to stock on cartons of bottled water.
“If this goes on for a month then that will be really bad. Even now I have to do the laundry at the shops...Sometimes we collect to pay a lorry for water,” he said.
Another resident, 59-year-old Samsulrizal Umar, said water pressure for the 270 flats is not like before.
“I don’t know how else the government can help. This problem affecting Sepanggar up to Tuaran Hospital and Likas has been for how long now.
“There is something wrong with the system used by the Water Department.”
