Academy vows to improve quality of women leadership
Jhewa and MPWS play a role in unearthing the talents of women to be promoted to a higher level through leadership courses organised by AKwan.
PAPAR: The Women’s Leadership Academy (AKwan) is committed to help improving the quality of women leadership in Sabah.

Minister of Community Development and People’s Welfare, Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya said AKwan was established based on the concerns and wishes of the Sabah Women’s Affairs Department (Jhewa) and the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) highlighting women with quality leadership characteristics.

“Jhewa and MPWS play a role in unearthing the talents of women to be promoted to a higher level through leadership courses organised by AKwan.

“It is in line with the National Women’s Policy which targets at least 30 percent of national policy  makers are women.

Meanwhile, Shahelmey revealed that his ministry was ready to face the transition of the Northeast Monsoon  expected to continue until March next year.

“The Social Welfare Department also provides flood preparation equipment at the main depot located in Kota Kinabalu and food supplies will also distributed to identified disaster centers,” he added.
