Kota Kinabalu: A Sarawakian couple charged with four counts of committing criminal breach of trust (CBT) by misusing company’s money amounting to RM4,000, which allegedly was used to pay the salary of a worker who had resigned from the company, will go trial on May 8-10, 2023.
The trial dates were given to Yeo Kwang Seaun, 41, and his wife Alicia Lim Ai Hsia, 38, whose cases were brought up for mention on Monday.
On the first to fourth counts, Yeo and Lim, as the directors of Syarikat Fucos Trading (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, allegedly committed CBT by misusing the company’s money which had been used to pay salary of one Sazien Sudin who had resigned from the company in August 2018.
The charges stated that the money was for Sazien’s salary of RM1,000 each for September, October, November and December 2018.
The offences allegedly took place at the company’s office in 2018 and Feb 15, 2019.
The offence under Section 409/34 of the Penal Code carries a jail between two and twenty years, and with whipping, and liable to a fine, on conviction.
All their cases are to be consolidated.
The couple’s bail of RM1,000 had been extended.
Meanwhile, the court set Nov 23 this year for mention the status of representation letter which applied by a policewoman charged with two counts of receiving bribes from a suspect who involved in a theft case.
The date had been set for Sergeant Nora Alun when her case was brought for mention.
On the first count, Nora is accused of agreeing to accept RM3,000 bribe from one Mohd Saiful Jamil, 29, at 12.27pm on Feb 13 this year at Restaurant Taufik, Inanam New Township, here.
On the second count, Nora allegedly accepted the RM3,000 bribe from Mohd Saiful between 3.50pm and 4.30pm on Feb 17 this year at the office of the Crime Investigation Department of Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarter, here.
The charges stated that the money was as an inducement to not proceed with the investigation under Section 380 of the Penal Code against Mohd Saiful, who involved in theft case.
Nora is currently released on bail pending the disposal of her case.
