TELUPID: Beluran District Police Chief, Superintendent Kasim Muda, confirmed he had not received any reports related to the attempted abduction of children in SK Pekan Telupid, here.
This followed a voice message related to the case that was uploaded on WhatsApp that went viral since last September 28.
“A check has been made with the school and found that this did not happen,” he said.
“The school has called the student in question and checked the location and found that no such thing happened,” Kasim said a statement.
The police check found that the owner of the viral voice was the mother of the student who, without checking, had left the message in the family’s WhatsApp group.
But it has gone viral without being noticed.
Kasim added that the police advised the public to be careful before sharing or uploading any inauthentic news that could cause aggravation in the community.
