Kota Kinabalu: Members of security forces are suspected to be involved in two sea robberies reported off the coast of Pulau Siamil, Semporna, in August.

Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin made his disclosure in a written reply to Semporna Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 4).

The occurrences, according to Hamzah, were recorded on Aug 15 and Aug 18, and both cases have been classified as gang robberies under Section 395 of the Penal Code.

He said as of Sept 25, a total of 20 individuals, including soldiers, had been released on bond while the probe is still ongoing. He said the Ministry is still awaiting the results of the investigations.
