Warisan YB raps Poon over ‘Trojan horse’ claim
Chong (left) said Poon (right) does not have the right to make such a statement as he was one of those involved in pushing for a Sabah-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and DAP.
Warisan’s Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong hit back at Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Frankie Poon for calling Warisan a “Trojan horse” aiming to split votes in the coming election. Chong said Poon does not have the right to make such a statement as he was one of those involved in pushing for a Sabah-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and DAP.

He said Poon was among those present with DAP’s then secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to meet with GRS Chairman cum Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
“I was in DAP at the time so I knew what was going on. Sabah DAP wanted a Sabah-level MoU with the Sabah Government after the federal level MoU was signed between Pakatan Harapan and the Federal Government.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
“I did not participate in the meeting because I did not agree with the MoU. But Poon did (attend the meeting). They (Sabah DAP) had even prepared a draft of the MoU when meeting Hajiji. “Now he (Poon) is calling Warisan a ‘Trojan horse’ when Warisan is the only party that refused to become the Government’s tool – the very government that toppled the Warisan Plus federal government.

“If all parties, whether they win or not, would end up signing MoU with the government, then what is the purpose of the opposition parties and why would people still need to vote?” he stressed. The MoU resulted in the passing of the Anti-Hop Bill and Sabah’s MA63 position as one among three entities being formally recognised for the first time since the formation of Malaysia in 1963.
