Sixteen-year-old Mohammad Amirul Ikhwan Jusneh and Nur Iman Tukiman, 15, both from SMK Inanam delivered the two gold medals in category two while the other gold was won by the recurve men’s team of Charlie Jekulis and Fredoline Modius in category one. Fredoline also won a bronze medal in the recurve men’s individual/category one.
The silver medals were won by Mohd Shukri Akumin (compound men’s individual) and Ramdi Rahimin-Mohd Shukri Akumin (compound men’s team/category one) while the second bronze medal was won by Arthur Sinabil (recurve men’s individual/category two).
Head coach Paul Leong praised the athletes for the good result but warned them against complacency as there are still some issues that need to be addressed such as the replacement of equipment and intensive training motivation talks sessions before the upcoming Para Malaysian Games (Para Sukma).
Pesron Sabah (Sabah Sports and Recreation Association for People with Disabilities) president Tan Hwa Koon was also delighted with their performance and urged them to maintain momentum for Para Sukma.
