PAPAR: A 20-year-old motorcyclist succumbed to serious injuries on the spot after crashing into a Perodua Kancil at Km 31, Jalan Lama Papar-Kota Kinabalu, Wednesday night.

District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the deceased was heading from Kota Kinabalu to Kampung Limauan, Kinarut when the incident occurred at 7.30pm.

He said initial investigations showed the Kancil’s driver, 63, made a sudden U-turn and entered the victim’s lane.

“The deceased failed to avoid the car and crashed into it, causing him to suffer serious head and body injuries.

“The victim was pronounced dead by Papar Hospital medical officers at the scene,” he said, adding the victim’s body was then taken to the Papar Hospital Forensic Unit for post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
