Owners who abandoned pets in city warned

Kota Kinabalu: Pet owners can be compounded not more than RM500 City Hall (KKCH) if caught abandoning their dogs in public places.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, said the fine is provided under the Dog Registration and Control By-law (amendment 2008) of KKCH.

Should the offender refused to settle the compound, the case can be brought to the court, upon conviction a fine of not more than RM5,000 can be imposed, he said.
