PETALING JAYA: Two of the suspects charged with kidnapping a Palestinian man last month have no links with PKR whatsoever, says the party’s information chief, Fahmi Fadzil.
He denied speculation on social media that Nidarahyu Zainal and Raibafie Amdan were PKR members or affiliated with the party in any way.
This comes after a social media post went viral depicting the pair in a picture with a PKR flag accompanied by the hashtag #kitamestimenang.
The hashtag was used in Pakatan Harapan’s 2018 election campaign.
“Regarding the picture of them with the PKR flag, and their Facebook profile picture with the PKR logo, which was uploaded in 2018, it was the individuals’ personal choice.
“It has nothing to do with the party,” Fahmi, the former Lembah Pantai MP, said in a statement.
Eleven people were charged at the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court last Friday with kidnapping the Palestinian man on Sept 28.
They were jointly accused of kidnapping him at Jalan Mayang here to get him to deactivate computer software and hack into mobile phones.
Yesterday, New Straits Times reported that Israeli intelligence agency Mossad had hired local agents to kidnap the Palestinian, who was suspected to be linked with Hamas.
However, Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said today police have yet to identify if any foreign intelligence agency was behind the abduction.
He also said the NST report linking the abduction to Mossad had disrupted the police investigation into the case.
