TAWAU: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paid tribute to PH incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) for their loyalty to the coalition.

Speaking at the recent Jelajah Harapan Sabah Tawau Zone event here, he said he knew of the time when they were “buying” MPs.

“Ranau ‘lompat’ (jump) in apparent reference to Ranau MP Datuk Jonathan Yasin (who defected to Bersatu in 2020). Bila menang, dia lompa, dia khianat. (When he won, he jumped, he betrayed).

“But Christina, I know, was offered all sorts of rewards, all sorts of promises like Deputy Chief Minister and others. ‘Tetapi saya salute dia, dia kental’. (But I salute her, she is solid),” he said, while pointing to her from the stage, to the applause of the crowd.

According to Anwar, he became worried when the Ranau MP defected to another party.

“So, I asked Azizah to call Christina to find out whether ‘dia goyang’ (she wavered). But she stayed put.

“And also Awang Husaini (who is MP for Putatan), and in Tuaran, too. These parliamentary constituencies are ‘luar biasa’ (extraordinary),” he remarked, applauded by the audience.

Meanwhile, Anwar, who is also PKR President, acknowledged the steely spirit of DAP parliamentarians. “The party’s 45 MPs ‘tak goyang sama sekali’ (are not shaken at all),” he said.
