KOTA KINABALU: An elderly man was found burnt to death in a car fire near a playground at Taman Iramanis, Kolombong, here, Sunday.

Rescue workers rushed to the 9.20 am scene but flames had already engulfed and destroyed 95 per cent of the Totoya Spacio.

City police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the victim was a 63-year-old whose remains were found in the driver’s seat.

“Preliminary investigations by the Fire and Rescue Department Forensics revealed the fire to have started from where the victim was seated.

“Investigations continue as the remains have been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 for post-mortem,” he said.
