Kota Kinabalu: Sabah People’s Rights Association President Lee Pun Yee said everyone has the right to live freely and equally.
“This fundamental right is something that needs to be understood by all parties, everyone in the community and the system,” he said while speaking at the Sabah Human Rights Association’s 10th Anniversary Dinner and 6th Oath-taking Ceremony, here, last Saturday. According to Lee, everyone has the right to express moral values freely regardless of background.
“Every individual is equal and has the right to give views, opinions and so on regardless of race, religion, culture or background,” he said.
In the meantime, he also emphasised that human rights is a matter that must be respected by all parties and given priority in the legal aspect. There was also a swearing-in ceremony for the association’s new committee members.
The event was witnessed by guest of honour, Sabah People’s Rights Association Adviser, Datuk Seri Ling Hie Sing.
