PENAMPANG: The Election Commission (EC) has been urged to verify the authenticity of hundreds of voters in Sabah who are registered with just a single name.Upko President Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said a check on the electoral roll revealed many voters registered with only one name and no last, or family, name.
“These incomplete names were mainly those born in the 90s,” he said in a statement, Monday.
Coincidentally, he said, that is the period when many immigrants were issued with the Malaysian identity cards in Sabah, adding the controversial “Project IC” was also linked to issuance of ICs during that period.
