TAWAU: Seventy-seven schools and non-Muslim religious bodies in the Tawau Zone (covering Tawau, Lahad Datu, Kunak and Semporna) received financial assistance from the State Government worth RM2.69 million, Monday.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan presented the money to representatives of the recipients in a ceremony at SJK(C) Kung Ming, here.

Of the amount, RM830,000 was for two Chinese private secondary schools, RM1.4 million for 14 Chinese national type schools (SJKCs) and RM280,000 for six primary and secondary schools (Mission schools).
