Kota Kinabalu: Claims that Umno led by Datuk Zahid Hamidi dropped several key leaders close to caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail from contesting the Nov. 19 general election so as to curb the latter’s influence is baseless, according to incumbent Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.“Everything pertaining to a candidate is taken into consideration. It doesn’t matter if he is (Umno) President or Prime Minister or the Sembrong Division Chief.
“Those names whose have been dropped can wallow in disappointment for two or three days but our ultimate goal is not for an individual’s victory but for the party as a whole.
