PUTATAN: To Warisan, returning Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) is more important than allocating a Deputy Prime Minister post to Sabah.
According to Warisan’s Putatan candidate Ahmad Mohd Said, 17 of the 21 items contained in MA63 had been successfully returned and become a legacy of Warisan that all Sabahans now enjoy.
“It is not the position of Deputy Prime Minister that we want,” he said.
“Return in total all Sabah’s rights as enshrined in MA63 immediately if you want our support (for the formation of a federal government),” he added.
Ahmad, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, also envisioned that Warisan would be the determining force in the formation of the federal government after the 15th General Election (GE15).
He claimed whatever gains Sabah made on MA63 are also because of Warisan’s efforts during two years as a Pakatan Harapan (PH) partner.
“Unfortunately, there are parties who try to shamelessly take credit,” he said.
He said Sabah would prosper because we have our own allocation from oil and gas.
