TAWAU: Police seized 1.02kg of syabu worth RM70,000 from a foreigner in a raid at Jalan Bunga Tanjung, here, on Wednesday.

Tawau Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 27-year-old suspect was arrested after the drugs were found in the back seat of the vehicle he was driving.

He said an anti-narcotics team stopped the suspect’s vehicle at 4.35pm.

“As the police were inspecting the vehicle, the driver fled but was apprehended at a nearby restaurant. The drugs were found hidden inside a sealed Yushan High Mountain brand tea packaging,” he said.
