“One of the reasons why young is because job opportunities in Sandakan are decreasing because factories are decreasing and indirectly job opportunities are also decreasing, he said.

“Many of our local young go abroad, to work in overseas factories because of the good salary and the ringgit rate in Malaysia is now falling when compared to foreign currencies,” Thien said.

He hoped that young people would be interested in  the business field and would no longer need to travel abroad to work and be away from their families.

“I also intend to help those unable to continue their studies in terms of scholarships because what I have seen are many of our local young who are intelligent and get excellent results are unable to continue their studies due to financial constraints.”

“With the scholarship young people will not give up hope in gaining knowledge and get a job that suits their qualifications and raise the family’s dignity as well,” he added.

There were many plans to raise the esteem of young people in the community.

Among them, were holding activities useful  and beneficial to the public, such as organising sports competitions and E-Sports among  young people and being able to attract the attention of the public to watch see  activities of young people.
