SANDAKAN: Three men lost their lives in two separate accidents here and in Telupid, Monday.
In the first case, two lorry drivers died after their vehicles collided along the Kampung Bauto Telupid road in Telupid, around 10am.
The drivers – one behind the wheel of a timber-laden truck and the other driving a trailer – were believed to have died on the spot following the collision.
State Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Misran Bisara said an emergency call was received at 10.25am.
He said medical officials pronounced the two victims dead at the scene and the identities of the victims had yet to be determined.
In the other accident, a 50-year-old identified as Lai Ming Yeoh was killed following a collision between his four-wheel drive and a 10-tonne lorry around 12.24pm.
Misran said the victim was driving along Jalan Labuk Batu 19 when the mishap occurred.
He said the lorry driver sustained minor injuries, adding the bodies of all three victims were handed over to the police for further action.
