SANDAKAN: More colleges are needed in Sandakan to provide extensive technical education opportunities for youth.

Technical education was very important as a preparation for the young generation to adapt to future technology, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for P.186 Sandakan, Lau Chi Keong @ Thomas Lau said

“We need a technical college that offers courses such as automation and engineering in order to produce our own talent pool strategically, consisting of youth trained in appropriate skills and courses,” Lau who is also the Vice President of SAPP, said.

“These colleges can also help fill the skill gap in Sandakan by producing youth who have the talent and skills required, and become the choice of business operators or employers,” he added.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
According to Lau youth would no longer had to leave their hometowns to further their education as sending them to other places may burden their families, especially those from low-income groups.

“Education is an important aspect of life and I have included the establishment of a technical college in my manifesto. If I am given a mandate by Sandakan voters on November 19, I will work closely with the government to realise it.” Lau said.
