Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Syariah Judiciary will be following in the footsteps of its Perak counterpart to provide a four-tiered court system with a Supreme (Syariah) Court as apex.Sabah Chief Syariah Judge Datuk Ahmad Othman said it was to provide an additional appeal for usually high profile cases that involve claims over RM300,000 as well as a fairer trial process.
“Currently a litigant can appeal twice in Subordinate Court, move on to High Court and have their final chance at Appeal Court. There they will be heard by a panel of three with the decision weighed by five (judges).
