Eye-catching booths display 1.5 million books

SHARJAH: The innovative method taken by numerous publishers to present their titles is making all the difference in drawing more visitors to the 41st Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), where 2,213 publishers from 95 different nations are showcasing 1.5 million titles in one venue.

Some distinctively designed innovative booths stand out from the crowd in the large halls of the SIBF 2022 and draw visitors’ attention right away.

One such instance of an eye-catching design is the Kingdom of Bahrain’s booth in Hall 3. It is uncomplicated yet attractive. Pencils that have been painted with a golden hue and then twisted and bound together by fine threads have been used to artistically produce what appears from a distance to be a sheer veil of soft gold.

According to Bashar Jassim, Director of the Bahrain International Book Fair, the designers chose to use pencils because a pencil is one of the most fundamental tools used to write, and with these written words, one builds books.

Sama Publishing, Production and Distribution in Hall 4 created a colourful stand for this audience of readers in response to the annual SIBF’s request for presenting a wide variety of children’s books. A nearly life-size wall painting of a happy Arab youngster welcomes guests while two walls have large digital printouts of board games and book titles placed on them.

From a wooden ceiling with slats, tiny hot air balloons drift in all directions. Little ones can independently access books and activities in well-lit racks that are built at a lower height.

Several amazing paintings and drawings by renowned Indian artist Kottayam Nazeer from Kerala have been framed and put on two complete walls by Kairali Books in Hall 7. Along with Nazeer’s coffee table book, Art of My Heart, each artistic masterpiece is offered for purchase.

Another gorgeous display is the classy booth in Hall 6 of Antiquariat Inlibris. The inventive booth displays open pages of old books and manuscripts by using transparent eye-level glass boxes as barriers. Additionally, the wall is covered in artwork, maps, and priceless historical illustrations and artifacts.

Right at the top of the display wall are coloured images. Yaser Al Tamimi, Branch Manager of the publishing house in the UAE, explains that once we capture the visitor’s attention with the posters on top, we know they will enter to see the entire wall.

Visitors who are interested in buying these incredibly rare books, artwork, and souvenirs have a table in the centre where they may sit comfortably and view the items.

An unrivalled opportunity to interact with thousands of professionals from the region and throughout the world is provided by the 2022 edition of the annual Sharjah International Book Fair.
