SANDAKAN: A local was sentenced to five years from the date of arrest and given one stroke of the cane by the Sessions Court, here, recently, for testing positive of drugs.

Judge, Zaini Fishir @ Fisal meted out the sentenced to the accused, Ardy Ngatimin, 40, after pleading guilty to the charge under Section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 which is punishable under Section 39C(1)(b) DDA 1952 for having two previous convictions under Section 15(1)(a) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He tested positive of drugs in IPD Sandakan on August 2022.

After serving the sentence, the court also ordered Ardy to undergo supervision for two years under Section 38B (1) DDA 1952.
