Why Sandakan POIC remains ‘unpopular’

Kota Kinabalu: Tanjung Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon queried why Sandakan Palm Oil Industrial Cluster (POIC) remained “unpopular” among industries although it has been established about one to two decades ago. 

“The question is why investors are not interested. Has the Government conducted any survey to find out the various reasons for the lack of investors’ interest in what appears to be a prime location?

Can the Government provide the necessary incentives to draw in investors to create employment for many out of job locals?” he quizzed during debating in support of the Sabah 2023 Budget at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, Monday.
