Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is exemplary in sustainable ecotourism and one of the success stories of global green nature tourism through global recognition of World Heritage Site, Unesco Biosphere and Geopark achieved by Kinabalu Park.

Prof Dato’ Dr Mazlin Mokhtar, Sunway University’s deputy head of research for United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Asia, said: “We salute Sabah being in the forefront of nature tourism, conservation, education and research.

“Well done for ensuring that 60 per cent of land area remains under forest cover with 26 per cent now being classified as totally protected areas. Keep it up. We must be willing to admit our weakness and willing to learn from others. We must not give up.
