Kota Kinabalu: A 69-year-old man, charged with committing physical sexual harassment against a girl, will go on trial on June 8 and 9, 2023.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus set the date for Liew Nyuk Lin when his case was brought up for pre-trial case management on Tuesday.
During the proceedings, all documents pertaining to the case had been served to the defence.
Liew is accused of committing the offence against the 12-year-old girl by touching her private part at 6.30am on April 22 this year by the roadside in Jalan Nountun Kolombong, Inanam.
The offence, under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
Pending the date, Liew’s bail was extended.
In another case, the court deferred the decision of a case involving a 28-year-old man charged with raping an underaged girl.
The court set Dec 6 for decision of Shahreyan Syah Lagayu’s case.
Shahreyan allegedly raped the 16-year-old girl at the Likas Sport Complex, here, between 10pm and 11.59pm on Nov 10, 2019.
He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman appeared for the prosecution.
