Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah state assembly has unanimously passed its RM5.1 billion surplus state budget for 2023 after four days of debate.
The budget, the biggest to date, was tabled by chief minister Hajiji Noor last Friday.
It involves an estimated expenditure of RM5.14 billion and revenue collection of RM5.45 billion, giving a surplus of RM130.47 million.
In his winding-up speech, Hajiji urged every state ministry, department and agency to make full use of the funds allocated to them.
He hoped that the implementation of projects would go according to schedule or completed ahead of time.
Hajiji said the ministries and departments must be highly committed, proactive and innovative in carrying out their duties to achieve development targets.
“Nearly every ministry and department has received an increase in allocation, covering various sectors like economy, social, industry, tourism, infrastructure, human capital and development of women, youth and sports,” he said.
