RANAU: Rural folks in Ranau are encouraged to turn up next week for free health checks provided by Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 in partnership with Malaysia Cancer Council (Makna).

The free checks are provided for mammogram screening and clinical examinations to both male and female adults aged 18 and above.

A mobile unit will be stationed at Dewan SK St Benedict Ranau on Dec 15-21 from 9am to 4pm daily.
“The mammogram screening will cater for 40 patients a day for household income of less than RM3,500 a month.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
“We targets women from 40 to 70 years old,  having done their last mammogram more than two years, never had breast surgery, have a family history of cancer, not a cancer patient and must be Malaysian,” said Organising Chairperson Dr Tracy Ina.

There will also be clinical examination by trained nurses, clinical breast examination, a mini cancer fair for awareness and education, counselling and consultation sessions.

Efforts would include clean water project in three districts to benefit more than 10,000 villagers, mammogram mobile service in Ranau and Tawau,  vision for first sight project, coral planting at Tunku Abdul Rahman Parks and lending support to peadiatric cancer patients and family. The project is made possible through a fundraising motivational talk event held in October, jointly organised by Lions Clubs International, JCI BNI and Taiwan Alumni Association of Sabah. The proceeds raised from the sales of tickets have  enabled the organisations to carry out the multiple community services.
