Causing grievous hurt: Man to enter defence
He allegedly committed the offence together with another accused Abdul Razif Juani who admitted to the charge and was sentenced accordingly, and also together with an accomplice still at large.
Kota Kinabalu: A 32-year-old man was ordered to enter his defence on a charge of causing grievous hurt to another man.

Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah Mohd Salim made the order for Reezid Kasmin after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Reezid.

The court set Jan 17, 2023 for Reezid’s defence.

Reezid is accused of assaulting one Mohd Bovi Wong, 26, by using a knife and a sword at 11pm on Jan 6, 2020 in front of the Kedai Mike Café in Tuaran.

The prosecution had called 15 witnesses during the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Faezah Jafry conducted the prosecution while counsel Erveana Ansari Ali defended Reezid.

Meanwhile, the court set Dec 28 this year for mention to serve documents and set the new trial date for the case involving a 23-year-old security guard charged with raping an underaged girl.

The date was given to Hanafie Roslan when his case was brought up for mention.

He is accused of raping the 15-years and five-months-old girl in August 2020 at a house in Taman Sri Rugading, Tuaran.

The offence under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

Counsel Mohd Ari Nadzrah Abd Rahman defended Hanafie.
