Sabah Karate Association emerge runners-up in Kuala Lumpur meet
The SKA medal winners celebrate with officials at the competition venue.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) finished second overall in the 7th KL Mayor’s Cup Karate Championship held at Titiwangsa Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on December 2.

They collected a total of 16 gold, 14 silvers and 23 bronze medals to finish behind team Hayashi-Ha from Kuala Lumpur on the table standing while in third place were Garuda Karate Club from Indonesia.

The gold medal winners were Al Zovainz Zurizal (kumite), Danish Rayyan Rajis (kumite), Marymhell Leona Aleasy Rodriguez (kata & kumite), team kata boys (13 years old), team kata girls A (10-13), Audrey Adreana Baking (kumite), Syairullah Hakim (kumite), Hezrond Ankes Hasland  (kumite), team kumite boys (10-13), Ivy Olivera Donny (kata), team kumite girls (10-13), team kumite (cadet), Clevelence Carlos (kata), team kata girls A (14-17) and Stanley Dulian (kumite).

SKA secretary general Julian Chin was delighted with the overall performance of the young athletes and reckoned they have a very bright future ahead. “The result is a clear indication that our development programme is on the right track and I believe these athletes will get to represent the State and country in the next five years.
