PAITAN: Yayasan Petronas, the corporate social responsibility arm of Petronas, distributed food baskets to 163 recipients here under its Sentuhan Kasih Festive in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebration.
The food baskets were handed over by Assistant Minister of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Datuk Flovia Ng to 60 pupils of Pusat Perkembangan Awal Kanak-Kanak, and 103 heads of households from Kampung Munungan, Kampung Mononood, and Kampung Egad, at Kampung Sungai-Sungai Hall, near here, recently.
“As we celebrate Christmas and the year-end festivities, it is important to keep in mind the needs of the less fortunate. We hope that through this contribution, we can spread some joy during this festive season,” said Yayasan Petronas Chief Executive Officer Shariah Nelly Francis.
Under the Sentuhan Kasih Festive this year, Yayasan Petronas will be giving out food baskets to 1,000 recipients in seven districts in Sabah, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Services Department (JPKA) and the respective district offices, and to another 200 recipients in Labuan.
The programme is part of Yayasan Petronas’ community well-being and development focus area, in line with Petronaas’ Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Earlier, Flovia handed over an adjustable bed, contributed by Yayasan Petronas, to Doing Asmadun Hassim from Kampung Sungai-Sungai who is bedridden.
The bed contribution is carried out in support of the State Government’s Homeward Programme which aims to provide home care for the elderly as well as people with disabilities and the chronically ill.
Also present at the event were JPKA Director Jais Asri, and Head of Petronas Sabah and Labuan Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab.
