Kota Kinabalu: A dawn fire destroyed a kitchen warehouse, a Honda car parts dealer and a sports arena along Lorong Kuala Neutron, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, Monday.An on-duty security guard, Shafie, said the fire started at the sports arena’s basketball court area around 6.05am.
The sports arena has a basketball court, a table tennis court, a badminton court and a gym.
It is understood that the sports arena operators have been renting the premises for two years, while the Honda car parts dealer has been renting the premises since 2018.
Similarly, the operator of the YKL kitchen warehouse measuring some 20,000 square feet has also been renting the premises for more than two years. The YKL kitchen warehouse has another branch in Papar and Tawau.
The losses have not been established as at press time.
Firefighters from Lintas and Kota Kinabalu rushed to the scene following a 6.29am distress call.
The fire was brought under control at 8.20am and the operation ended at 3.35pm.
