RM80,000 smuggled Sabah fuel seized
Verceles said personnel of the Sulu Maritime Police Station along with other police forces launched a seaborne patrol after receiving information that smuggled petroleum products were set to be unloaded in the area. - Bernama pic for illustration only
Kota Kinabalu: Smuggled fuel worth more than RM80,000 (Php832,000) from Sabah was intercepted  and seized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Sulu province last Tuesday (Dec 20).

The anti-smuggling operation also saw the arrest of three suspects.

PNP Western Mindanao Command Chief Col. Richard Verceles identified the suspects as boat skipper Saji Ella and crewmen Arilon Ansuk and Ella Jamil, who were arrested in the waters off Barangay Mauboh, Patikul, Sulu at 3:30am.
