Kudat golf  team emerge champions

KUDAT: The Kudat golf team won the 5th series after defeated seven teams represented by 175 amateur players at a Muhibbah Golf Tournament held at the Kudat Golf Club, here, recently.

The teams competing this time are Kudat, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Banggi, Semporna, Semporna and Ranau.

The Kudat team, which are hosting the tournament, managed to get 984 points to emerge as the overall champions of the competition and brought home a challenge trophy with cash RM3,500 and medals for all players.

Banggi team came in second securing 988 points with cash prize of RM2,500 and medals followed by Ranau team in third place with RM1,500 and medals with 1,014 points won by OCB with Kota Kinabalu team after sharing the same number of points.

This Goodwill Golf Tournament was inspired and mooted by Darau Assemblyman Azhar Bin Datuk Matussin. The first tournament was held at Nexus Golf Resort Karambunai on Nov 18, 2018.

The objective of organising the tournament is to support unity and camaraderie in line with the uniqueness of the various communities of amateur golfers throughout Sabah according to their respective districts including the Federal Territory of Labuan.

Azhar who is also the tournament’s patron, announced Tawau as host of the 6th Series of the tournament during the closing and prize giving ceremony. While Shan Shui Golf & Country Club, he said has been chosen as the venue for the tournament which is expected to be attended by more than 15 districts in Sabah.
