Sabah’s worst scandal sees even more court delays

THE trial of two former officials of the Sabah Water Department and one of their wives who were charged with money laundering, which resumed at the Special Corruption Court here after nearly four years of adjournment, took centre stage in Sabah courts this year.

The case involving RM130 million was the worst corruption scandal in Sabah’s history and had been going on for seven years with no conclusion due to endless delays and interruptions.

To the extent the judiciary was even accused of double standards by jailing former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak 12 years in a case that involved RM27 million within four years.
