TAWAU: A foreigner was arrested on suspicion of threatening and raping a 29-year-old woman at Mile 15, Jalan Tawau-Semporna, last Wednesday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect, in his 30s, was arrested in a police raid at the Ladang Tundong workers’ houses area, at 7.18pm, on Dec 28.
He said the alleged incident happened when the suspect met the victim outside her (victim’s) house.
“The suspect threatened the victim with a sharp weapon to follow him until he reached an area and raped her,” he said.
Jasmin said the suspect is currently being remanded for seven days until Jan 4, adding that initial investigation found the suspect has no previous criminal record.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
