Kota Kinabalu: A businessman who fled a hit-and-run in Lido ended up dead after crashing his BMW 330i into a tree along Jalan Kolam, on Sunday.
The victim, known as Kelvin Kok Shin Heng, 37, was said to be on the way to his father’s house in Sunny Garden when the tragedy occurred at 8am, according to his sister.
Wisma HCS restaurant workers nearby rushed to the scene and found the driver unconscious.
They called emergency services and doctors who arrived confirmed the man’s death.
No traces of skid marks were found at the scene, leading to the belief that the victim had crashed at full speed.
Fried noodles meant for his father were strewn over the front passenger floor.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from a house in Lido at 6.34am showed the victim’s first crash into the side of a Perodua Bezza.
According to a police source, the Bezza owner is yet to lodge a report.
