PENAMPANG: Rumours that parking fees may be introduced in the district effective February drew mixed reactions, as well as anger that local authorities in Sabah now prefer to make their plans known unofficially in social media first.Netizens drew a parallel between a parking receipt (coupon) circulated via WhatsApp to that of recent reports of plans to chop down five raintrees in Kasigui which also had yet to be confirmed officially by the Council.
“Is this the Council’s new style of doing business? The top officials whether the District Officer or Executive Officer are paid by us and should resign if they are afraid to put their names on the dotted lines in an official statement,” said a resident, who requested anonymity.
