Permit fee too costly, so event off
“For example, if Justin Bieber were to hold a concert in Kota Kinabalu, the fee will only be RM5,000.  Here we are, a small artisan market selling art and our permit is RM14,000,” Aaron told Daily Express.
Kota Kinabalu: The organiser of the popular Jesselton Artisan Market (JAM) is forced to cancel the event which has helped many artisans over the years, City Hall (DBKK) has hiked permit fees.

Organiser Aaron Lam said the permit fee to hold a two-day indoor event with 100 booths has now reached a whopping RM14,000, which translates to RM70 per booth, per day.

He claimed the permit fee for an international concert in Kota Kinabalu is only RM5,000.
