PETALING JAYA: The people of Sabah deserve to have political stability, says an Umno leader.
Umno Supreme Council member Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the people of Sabah were “angry, sick and tired” of all the politicking and turmoil in the state.
“Is there absolutely no sympathy for the people of Sabah who are struggling with economic challenges?” the former Kota Belud MP said on Facebook.
In the cryptic post, Rahman said patience was a crucial pillar of democracy, adding that if there was no patience, “democracy would be stifled”.
His remarks follow the current political crisis in Sabah between chief minister Hajiji Noor on one side and Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin with Warisan president Shafie Apdal on the other.
After an hour-long audience with Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin yesterday, Hajiji was all smiles as he left the palace.
Hajiji was summoned to presumably submit statutory declarations from Sabah assemblymen who are in support of him remaining as the chief minister.
Meanwhile, Bung met Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his deputy, Mohamad Hasan, in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the political crisis in the state.
Bung, who is also Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman, had on Friday announced that Sabah BN and Umno were retracting their support for Hajiji as chief minister.
