Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is confident that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will put an end to Sabah's current political turmoil brought about by last week's attempt to oust Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor by his (Hajiji's) deputy, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
Umno president Zahid said Anwar will be meeting with both sides of the government split between Hajiji and Bung, who last week announced his party, Umno’s, breakaway from Hajiji's GRS ruling coalition.
"Ending the political trouble in Sabah by achieving a win-win solution will be the main agenda. He (Anwar) will be spilling the details soon," Zahid told reporters after dinner with Sabah Umno leaders at their headquarters here before leaving for the airport to receive Anwar scheduled to arrive at 10pm tonight.
The gathering with Anwar is believed to take place at Sutera Harbour although some assemblymen suggested the meeting be held at Sri Gaya, the chief minister's official residence.
Meanwhile, Warisan President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, in a press conference earlier today, said he will attend the gathering if invited.
