Kota Kinabalu: The Likas Stadium is set to undergo renovations soon in preparation for Sabah FC’s involvement in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup and also Kota Kinabalu as host for the Sabah Games later this year.
Major works will be carried out to resurface the synthetic running track as well as upgrade the scoreboard and other facilities at the stadium.
Sabah FC Chief Executive Officer Marzuki Nasir, who led a delegatation to visit Youth and Sports Ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun Thursday, said the upgrade is necessary to comply with the specifications by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to host the AFC Cup.
According to Marzuki, Mansur gave his assurance that the works will be completed before the start of the AFC Cup in September.
